M.PHIL IN POL. SCIENCE (Evening Program)

ACADEMIC PROGRAM

The 2-years M.Phil degree course is based on a semester system. To ensure a student-teacher closer liaison, admission will be allowed to a maximum of 20 students, depending on the availability of qualified candidates after aptitude, written test and interview to be conducted by the Admission Committee of the Department.

THESIS

Thesis shall be a compulsory requirement in M.Phil studies.

A student who scores minimum 2.5 GPA (or ‘B’ Shall be allowed to prepare his/her research synopsis. The Synopsis will be presented by the student before the Academic Committee for approval.

After the approval of synopsis, a student will write his/her thesis during 3rd and 4th Semester under the supervision of a supervisor/guide appointed by the Chairman of the Department.

The date for the submission of thesis shall be determined by the Chairman and the Academic Committee after 4th semester.

The Board of Examiners for thesis viva-voce shall comprise of the Chairman of the Department as the Convener, as well as the Internal Examiner (Research Advisor) and External Examiner of the student.  In addition two referees will also be appointed for report on the thesis.  The examiner and the referees will be appointed by the Chairman with the approval of the Board of studies.

The Board of Examiners will evaluate the thesis on the basis of student participation in seminars/group discussions, the reports of the referees as well as the viva-voce examination of 200 marks.

The Board may recommend revision and one-time re-submission of the thesis under the prescribed rules.  The Academic Committee’s approval in this regard will be final.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION

The title of the course will be M.Phil in Political Science.  A candidate shall be eligible to apply if he/he possesses at least 45% marks in his/her Masters or an equivalent thereof, from a university /institution recognized in Pakistan.

Admission to M.Phil in Political Science will not be open for ‘non-subject’ candidates.  However, the related fields for eligibility will be Masters in International Relations, Defense and Strategic Studies and Pakistan Studies.

Persons employed by the government/semi government agencies will also be eligible to seek admission in M.Phil. Program.  The condition, however, will be that he/she must fulfill the required qualifications.

Such employees of government/semi government  agencies will also be required to submit a ‘No Objection’ certificate from their employer to be enrolled as a full-time student in this 2-year program.

Maximum age limit for admission will be 30 years, relaxable in certain special cases.

STUDENT STATUS

He / She will be a full-time student, enrolled for on campus studies.

No student of M.Phil shall take admission in another course of study during his/her enrollment a bonafide student of the College. He/She shall not get employment during his/her studies.

However, the condition about employment will not be applicable to the candidates who have “No Objection” certificate.
