Services
Library collections are divided into English, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Hindi and Sanskrit sections. The library stock is easily accessible a majority of books are available for loan. The library maintains automated English catalogue, containing bibliographic information of publications available in the library, Data base which is under CDS/ISIS software is researchable by a number of fields like author, title, keywords, subject headings, publisher, country of publications, classification number, ISBN etc. Network access of the database is available on seven terminals at the library, Urdu titles are available on Card Catalogue.
Circulation Service
Network charging system is used for circulation of books. All books available in the circulation section may be borrowed and retained 14 days only.
Reference Service
The reference section has been reorganized in the sense that all general information sources like dictionary, encyclopedia, directories etc. have been placed together. All reference books and books consisting of multi volumes shall not be issued in any case. Books prescribed by Board of Studies, Government College Lahore for various examinations shall not be issued without the special permission of chief librarian.
Advisory Service
The Career Education and Advisory Service for Studies abroad are available to provide information and advice to students. The students counselor has his base in the Reference Section of the Library.
User Education
An orientation programme namely “How to use college library” was introduced last year. This is conducted each year at the time of fresh admissions to the college. Visitors and delegates are also briefed by the professional staff of the library.
Audio-visual Service
The library provides the services to students keeping in view their course requirements.
Photocopy Service
Readers may use photocopy service at the rate of Rs: 0.50 per exposure. However, the service is subject to copyright provision.
IT Facilities
There is two dedicated drop-in centers in Central and Postgraduate library. In order to access the library and IT network, you will need your college/library card.
