B.A.\B.Sc. (Pass and Hons.)

In order to achieve academic excellence the Government College University Lahore has introduced a three years research oriented B.A./B.Sc. (Hons) programme along with the existing 2 years B.A./B.Sc. (Pass) courses which are as follows:

Five courses of the major subject in which Honors is sought, plus a Research Project.

1- A student may get B.A./B.Sc. pass degree at the end of two years provided he successfully completes 12 courses.

2- A student who wishes to continue further studies for B.A./B.Sc. (Hons) degree will be allowed to do so provided.

i- He gets overall GPA of 2.5 in his B.A./B.Sc. (pass) course.

ii- He gets minimum Grade Point average 3.00 in the subject in which he seeks to do his B.A./B.Sc. (Hons).

SPECIAL CONCESSION FOR B.A./B.Sc. (HONS) GRADATES

3- A student who has passed B.A./B.Sc. (Hons) examination will be allowed to do M.A./M.Sc. in about one year.

3)      Three subjects of 200 marks are to be taken from the following each group
          = 600
          1+2+3 =  900

HUMANITIES GROUP

Three subjects of 200 marks are to be taken by the students from the following:

COMBINATIONS OF SUBJECTS

Section A Languages: 
English Literature, Persian, Urdu, Arabic, Punjabi and French

Section B Subjects: 
Economics, Pol. Science, History, Stat, Math, Journalism, Social Work, Sociology, Philosophy, Psychology, Islamic Studies, Education & Geography.

Students may take: 1) one language of section I and Two subjects out of section B.

2) Two languages of section one (A) and one subject from section B. 
    OR
    One set from the following:

3)  Misc:       Combinations:
     i)             Stat. Economic and Pol.Science 
     ii)            Economics, Pol.Science and Psychology 
     iii)           Economics, Geography, History. 
     iv)            Maths.(g) Stat. and Geography. 
     v)             Pol. Science, History and Islamic Studies. 
     vi)            Maths.(g) Economics and Pol. Science.

NOTE

1) Not more than 150 students in Statistics and Economics will be admitted. The top 150 students from all combinations will be accepted.

2) Only 100 students in Journalism and 100 students in Punjabi will be admitted on merit.

3) In Literature 30 students will be admitted after passing the qualifying test.

4)The students who have not passed the subject of Mathematics in the Intermediate examination cannot opt for Mathematics Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Mathematics General in B.A/B.Sc.

5 )The students who wish to study English Literature will have to prove his ability in a written test and the student who fails to qualify the test will have to change this subject for another subject. An affidavit in this connection will have to be attached to the application form.

NOTE 

Subject combination/Sets can only be selected from the sets listed above. A students who has selected subjects which are not according to the given sets, will have to change the subjects according to the given sets.

CHANGE OF SUBJECTS

1)         The sets once selected in accordance with the given sets can only be changed within a specified period.

2)         The dates for the changes of subjects are notified every year after the College admissions have been finalized.' Change of subjects will not be allowed after the expiry of that period.

A choice of subject at variance with the given sets will have to be changed in accordance with the given sets.
