Dr. Stephenson laid down the foundation of a Natural History Museum in the department. This museum has since been growing. It has been and is one of the best museums in the Indo-Pak subcontinent. lt has over 2500 specimens.
In 1919, the Honours School system was introduced. The students having passed this examination had to take up only one year course for their M.Sc. Degree, whereas the students with B.Sc. The Zoology Department, Government College, Lahore was the only seat of learning and research in Zoology for M.Sc. Degree till 1920 in the United Punjab.
