DEPARTMENT OF PERSIAN The Department of Persian was established in 1864, the year the Government College came into being. However, Persian at the Post-graduate level was introduced as recently as 1981. Since then, the department has been flourishing. Teachers of calibre and dedication have given their best to the department which can boast of a continuous search and creative activity over the years. The Department of Persian has some rare books as well a very rich collection of the latest books about Persian Language and Literature Published in Iran. The Department also provides facilities of Micro Film Reader and Photostat Machine for research works. The Department takes out its research journal "Kawish" which is well received by research scholars everywhere. The Department has undertaken important research projects and under the auspices of Majils-e-Tehqeeqo-Taleef-e-Farsi has published a number of books on Persian Language and Literature. These books have research value and have been appreciated even by Iranian scholars.
