Students are admitted on merit with a compulsory Bachelors degree and GMAT score as prerequisites.

 

The Management Studies Department was developed to address the need for creating locally grown, skilled MBAs equipped with strategic approaches to solving management problems. Students learn essential I.T. skills through a combination of on-line resources, learning, workplace experience and traditional classroom instruction. Second year   specializations include IT, Manufacturing Strategies, Finance and Marketing. Here we support high academic standards and promote career preparation for students in a knowledge based economy. We focus on developing a special breed of results-producing leaders.  The high-impact Government College approach relies on our across the board academic excellence and combines traditional delivery of cutting-edge knowledge with progressive, intensive professional development. Why Management Studies?

 

Management Studies is a professional and strategic subject. Strategic approaches to management are spreading rapidly over the globe. Management professionals are required to solve problems at the local, strategic business unit and international levels, in a rapidly changing external environment. The Strategic MBA will equip students to address these global challenges by providing optimal solutions.

 

As MBA students you will be exposed to a variety of pedagogical techniques to enhance your grasp of current and future management issues. You will learn how to present your work, both in writing and through presentations. You will also learn how to work with other people through group projects. Above all, you will be employable because your general management skills will have strategic value combined with functional knowledge.

 

Department of Management Studies

 

The department of Management Studies, Government College Lahore was established in 2001 in a purpose built building. The department has air conditioned computer laboratories. The IT centre with NT based network of 20 computers is used for courses offered by Punjab Information Technology Board and Microsoft Corporation USA as part of their faculty training program. It is also available to the students of this department.

 

Three fully equipped multimedia laboratories each consisting of 50 latest computers, servers and other peripherals such as scanners, CD-writers, heavy duty dot matrix and laser printers are available for general use. The students have access to Internet, which make their training more effective and productive.

 

The department also houses an executive classroom for short courses in Management and related areas.

 

Strategic MBA Programme

 

1.     MBA degree program is of two years duration and divided into seven Quarters.

2.     Each Quarter is of 12 weeks duration, from which one week is for the final examination and another one week for Quarter break for students.

3.     The curriculum of study specified below may change from time to time.

4.     The medium of instruction for all courses is English.

5.     Deserving students on merit are offered financial assistance.

6.     Admissions are for the Morning MBA only and done once a year in August / September.

Summer Internship

 

In order to provide real life work experience. It is compulsory for students to do a summer internship comprising of six to eight weeks after third quarter.

HOW TO APPLY

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant (male/female) must have passed their Bachelors degree and taken the GMAT OR GCUMAT (Government College University Management Admission Test) examination.

GMAT application forms are available by downloading applications forms or telephoning the Malaysia Regional Centre for GMAT registration in Pakistan. See www.mba.com for details. The GMAT result is available online immediately at the end of the test. Please print a copy and bring the original to the Management Studies Department immediately after receipt. The GMAT educational institution test score receiving code for Government College Lahore is 7074.

Deadline for submission of application form with GMAT score is August 22, 2003. 

Deadline for submission of GCUMAT registration form is July 28, 2003.
