DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS Albeit the fact that the Department of Mathematics has been functioning since long before the division of this subcontinent, Postgraduate classes could only be started in 1966, as a result of the initiative of Prof. L.M. Chawala, In Prof. Chawla, the Department had a competent teacher and a fine administrator. He was able to gather a team of dedicated teachers to undertake Post Graduate instructions in the subject of Mathematics.

It is a matter of great honor for the Department of Mathematics to mention about Prof. Dr. Abdul Salam an esteemed versatile Ravian (1994-46), a great mathematician of 20th century and Chairman of the Department of Mathematics (1951-52), who earned excellence at the international academic / research horizon by earning more than twenty (20) internationally acknowledged most prestigious awards and above all by winning the Nobel Prize (1958) in Theoretical Physics.
Dr. Abdul Salam, expired in 1997 but will remain a source of motivation for all the Ravians, for all the times to come. The Department has had the following as Chairmen:
